Amy is a coach, speaker, and writer who specializes in communication, so as you can probably imagine, we had a lot to talk about.

I had a lovely time chatting with Amy about methods for creating opportunities for compassionate, conscious conversation. We covered:

  • What we mean when we say relational, integral, and cultural

  • How reflective listening helps us field accusations

  • Why the question of control or connection is so important

  • How we can develop new communication skills

  • The best ways to get in touch with our feelings and needs

  • Recommended next steps on our path to personal transformation

The conversation kept circling back to the idea of domination systems, as so many of us were raised with that experience and continue to find ourselves in a world that values the mastery of competition and authority over the surfacing of feelings and needs.

Naturally, the domination paradigm we’ve absorbed affects how we show up and leads to so much of the conflict that we encounter. It’s this paradigm that we seek to shift through the work we do together here, within ourselves and in how we relate to others.

One area where we can have profound and lasting impact is through the parenting roles we play in our lives.
