I’ve been doing a lot of re-examining in my life recently.

Familiar ways of being, habitual styles of interacting, ruts in my own parenting and relationship patterns – they’ve all come under scrutiny lately. I’ve been reaching for more health-affirming, compassionate, and empowering choices for myself and others.

Sometimes we need to be willing to let go of the relationships we currently have in order to live into the relationships we actually want. Navigating these transitions with grace and self-compassion can be a wild ride.

How do we best meet these times we’re living in?

Earlier this month, I gave a talk at Lake Harriet Spiritual Community on the subject of rebirth and new beginnings.

It’s certainly been a time of upheaval globally and nationally, but also in our personal lives, with our families, our friends, and ourselves.

We’re being invited to question many things:

  • Who are our real friends?

  • What does it mean to be friends with one another, especially in the face of fundamentally different values?

We are re-examining our beliefs, world-views, and assumptions. Perhaps you’ve been wondering:

  • What does it mean to create an inner circle of support and comfort?

  • When does that inner circle become an echo chamber, a bubble of confirmation bias that keeps us from bumping up against divergent points of view, those challenging experiences that are actually essential to our growth as humans?

  • What are you being asked to surrender to or give up these days?

  • What attachments are you ready to release?

  • What new visions are waiting to emerge into your life?

Exploring these questions can lead to radical transformations.

You can watch the talk here:

As you let go of that which no longer serves you and emerge into new structures in your own life this year, I hope that this talk may offer some insight and clarity about key stages in the processes of change and transformation.
