On-Demand Course: How to have hard Conversations
Want to stay grounded under pressure?
Don’t you wish you could navigate conversations with confidence, clarity, and ease – even when there’s intense disagreement and charged emotions?
Though we live in polarized, divisive times, we have the power to offer a relational, curious, engaged spirit in our conversations with others.
I’ve designed this course to help you have those tough conversations with compassion, clarity, confidence, and choicefulness.
With this course, you can …
- Develop your emotional intelligence and interpersonal capacity.
- Learn how to avoid kicking up familiar patterns of blame, shame, and defensiveness.
- Discover how you can create powerful empathetic human connections.
Harnessing this power, all of us can reach our highest potential. Instead of being stuck in exhausting power struggles, we can finally move forward together as one healthy, sustainable, peaceful, and compassionate global community.
How did we get here?
Most of us have been taught to compete, judge, demand, and diagnose – to both think and communicate in terms of what is “right” and “wrong.”
Though well-intended, these habits are corrosive to our personal and professional relationships.
Add to that the deep polarization that’s happening in our world today, and we’ve got a recipe for painful conflict.
Bridging these differences is hard work, but I’ve got a roadmap for you.
In this course, you’ll get concrete skills and step-by-step strategies for effective listening, managing emotions, understanding someone else’s perspective, finding common ground, avoiding self-righteousness, and telling your own story.
You’ll also get conversation prompts, practical exercises, case examples, and self-reflections to help you to visualize and practice starting, sustaining, and ending challenging conversations.
You can apply these strategies to all kinds of hot-button issues both at work and at home: vaccines, raising a teenager, politics, finances, and more.
